As we begin 2013, everyone has already thought of and prepared their New Year’s resolutions for the new year. Well, one of my resolutions is to begin – and maintain – a blog for the KnILE Center. It’s been a long time coming. Although I have worked in education for over 20 years and have written for many years, this is one thing I have been fretting over. Maybe it’s because I am not sure where to begin or maybe it’s because I am afraid of failing in it, but isn’t that what a resolution is all about? Isn’t a resolution about change? Changing things we don’t usually do or the things we are not necessarily good at. Aren’t we always worried about failing when we start our resolutions? We always have this fear that we won’t lose the weight or we can’t achieve the goal or we won’t change our bad habits, but if we don’t at least try, there is NO way to know if we can really achieve it, right?
It’s about setting our goals and taking baby steps and getting as far as we can with our goals. Resolutions always start so strong. Our intentions are always so good, but life seems to always get in the way and somewhere during the year our resolutions become our regrets of not achieving them. Well, this year, my resolution is to set S.M.A.R.T. goals that can and will be achieved. In case you were wondering, “S.M.A.R.T.” is an acronym for Successful, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic andTimely goals. Yes, that’s right this time my goals (resolutions) for 2013 will be ones that I can and will achieve before the year is done. That is because I am going to set smaller and more realistic goals and take babysteps in the right direction and as I stated earlier, writing a blog that will educate, empower and help you (and me) succeed is the first one I am going to start with and well.
Looking forward to sharing many wonderful blogs with you very soon!
Until next time….
Here’s to achieving your 2013 S.M.A.R.T. Resolutions!
