    Andrea Gilson

My name is Andrea Gilson and I am the Assistant Teacher for the Intermediate class with Ms. Becky! I am so excited to help KnILE students come into the light and flourish into their full potential. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela but have been living in Katy, Texas for over 15 years. I earned my masters degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in biomechanics in 2018 at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. I have two little brothers who are my best friends, Carlos (22) and Alex (11).

Before working at Knile and even before college, I spent the majority of my days as a dance instructor at DANMAR Dance Studio teaching flamenco, tap, salsa, and folkloric dancing. A few of my other hobbies include painting pet portraits, visiting museums, gardening, and going to the movies.

During my time in college, I served as a graduate research and teaching assistant. Here, I had the opportunity to study plantar health in children with special needs. This is when I fell in love with showing kids their true potential by creating an optimal environment for them to thrive. It can be as simple as making a child comfortable and building trust. My goal is not only to make students comfortable in their skin, but also to enrich their learning experience with my knowledge.

I consider myself very in tune with my body and mind through my dance experiences, scholarly research, and meditation. It is my passion to help others discover their optimal self in whatever I choose to do. I am so happy and excited to be at KnILE!
