“Don’t just aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference” Denzel Washington
Welcome! My name is Betsy de Vega and I have had the pleasure of dedicating most of my adult life to working with children and help them reach their fullest potential. My passion and calling is to pay it forward and impact our youth so that they can in turn see themselves the same way we see them – as awesome individuals capable of anything their hearts desire. Cuban born, American raised. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Houston and am a certified Irlen Screener.
Over the years, I received training in such areas as behavioral intervention, Dyslexia, ADHD, Anxiety and the like. I have worked in education, in various capacities for over 30 years, including a Bilingual Case Manager / Teacher for M.H.M.R.A. of Harris County, and as an administrator for Southampton Montessori School. I was also privileged to be the first person to bring a cognitive skills-based enrichment program called Learning Rx to the Houston area.
I am a volunteer for such organizations such as Night of Superstars, Hope for Three and Child Advocates of Ft Bend. I am also a member of LDA (Learning Disabilities Association) and IDA (International Dyslexia Association).
I founded KnILE Center in 2008 with the mission to provide a nurturing environment, to help students with learning concerns find a way to love learning again, while learning to love themselves again. wanted to offer an educational program that did not limit students from learning and reaching their fullest potential. I absolutely love my career and feel so blessed to have this as my calling.
I have two beautiful children, Alex and Gigi. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, dancing and watching movies.
