Founder and Head of School Betsy de Vega of the KnILE Center, a boutique private school and tutoring center in Richmond, recently announced that the organization raised more than $20,000, for the Houston Area Parkinson Society (HAPS) and the KNILE Parent Group at its first annual Havana Night Celebratory Fundraiser.
Held on September 21 at Cindy’s Palace Banquet Hall in Richmond, the Havana-themed event hosted more than 200 guests for cocktails, dinner, live music and an auction. The first-time event surpassed all goals. “We are humbled by the outpouring of community backing for this event and are thrilled to be able to support HAPS and our parent group with funds raised at this event,” said de Vega.
HAPS Executive Director Kathleen Crist expressed the organization’s deep appreciation for the donation. “It is with sincere gratitude that HAPS thanks Betsy and Charlie de Vega and the KnILE Center for their generous support. Being a part of this event not only raised invaluable funds to support our mission, but provided a meaningful opportunity for outreach into the Ft. Bend County – an area HAPS acknowledges as a rapidly expanding territory within our service area which means the need for additional programs and support is critical.”
Additionally, the event generated another $4000 for KnILE Parents Group, the school’s parent support group which provides scholarships and funds needed school equipment for the Richmond area private school and tutoring center.
